About the Associate Editor
Dr. Santiago T. Peña, Jr. graduated Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Cum Laude at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Visayas State University, placing 3rd in the Veterinary Medicine Licensure Examination (VMLE). He is a two-time AusAID scholar (ADS/AAS) having completed his Master’s and Doctoral degrees (Tropical Veterinary Science) from James Cook University, Townsville, Queensland, Australia, under the late Prof. Phillip Summers and Dr. Damien Paris, respectively. Dr. Peña specializes on sperm biology with special focus on semen evaluation (CASA), processing, and freezing (LN2). His work on the impact of heat stress on sperm DNA integrity induced by tropical summer, and mitigation using a custom formulated antioxidant supplement (PLoS ONE 14: e0216143) are well cited. His research interests have also expanded on the epidemiological investigations against antibiotic residues, and on-farm biosecurity and herd health management.
Dr. Peña is the current Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Visayas State University. He currently works on a DOST-PCAARRD-funded project identifying appropriate indices of a superior semen in the Philippine Native boar. While serving as an Associate Editor of the Annals of Tropical Research and Science and Humanities journals, Dr. Peña also chairs the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) of the University. About the Associate Editor
Dr. Julie D. Tan is a food technologist with specialization in applied food microbiology, food safety and food processing. In particular, she is actively involved in food product development from rootcrops and microbial hazard detection in fresh vegetables and processed foods. She also assists local food processors in food safety practices and processing methods. Her special field of interest is in the study of lactic acid bacteria where she became the first and founding president of the Philippine Society for Lactic Acid Bacteria, Incorporated, A SEC-registered, non-stock scientific society..

About the Managing Editor
Dr Henry Y Goltiano is full professor of the Department of Agricultural Education and Extension of the College of Agriculture and Food Science of VSU. He was inducted into the International Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in 1999 for overall academic excellence at the University of the Philippines. Phi Kappa Phi membership is earned and is by invitation only based on outstanding academic performance or scholarly achievement. He is also a member of the Pi Gamma Mu, the International Honor Society in Social Sciences. He was recipient of the Fulbright Advanced Research Fellowship at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and was Fulbright Occasional Lecturer at the Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia. He wrote a section of the book World Food: Production and Used authored by Alfred R Conklin Jr and Thomas Stilwell and published in 2007 by the New Jersey-based John Wiley & Sons, Inc., a global publisher that specializes in in academic publishing. He has authored or co-authored research papers and served as reviewer of local and international journals. He has served as editor/associate editor of some publications and was the first adviser of the Amaranth, the student publication of the Visayas State University. He is recipient of the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Medal as member of the VSU ForestAL Advocates, which won the 2018 Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award for their research and development projects on forest conservation and restoration, rainforestation and carbon trading. The award is the highest award for Philippine government officials for exceptional contributions resulting from an idea or performance that had nationwide impact.
